Updation of Devanagari Alphabets

Devanagari script is a very unique and powerful script. It is one of the oldest scripts if not “The Oldest” script still in use in modern times. It is the script for the world’s most books on religion and yogic knowledge. Being the language of the majority of Bharatiyas, it is still one of the most practiced scripts. Each of its letters scientifically represents only one sound without ambiguity. Its alphabets are laid in a table based on the origin of the sound.

Yet, the script lacks representation of many sounds that are part of other languages and need to be represented in Devanagari. Devanagari was created thousands of years ago and its alphabets have never been expanded since then. We think it’s time to expand the script to accommodate the unrepresented sounds to enrich the script.

This effort requires not only the selection and adoption of symbols for unrepresented sounds but also, and more importantly, finding their rightful place in the table.

At this time we invite the interested experts to apply for being part of the project by applying with details about their expertise. You will work with some of the most learned experts in the subject.
